Amber has a B.A. in political science from The University of British Columbia, and a diploma in Broadcast and Online Journalism from the B.C. Institute of Technology. Between UBC and BCIT, she worked as a copywriter, and travelled across Canada as a 2010 Olympics Representative.
Amber gained her first taste of reporting with News 1130 in Vancouver, but jumped at the chance to join Global Saskatoon and learn the ropes of TV reporting. For several years, Amber covered some of Canada’s biggest news stories, including the Northern Saskatchewan wildfires, the Outlook and Kenaston tornado aftermath, and Saskatoon’s transit lockout. She covered civil rights abuses, criminal cases, city hall, multiple homicides, and interviewed current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In 2015, Amber took six months off to travel through Europe and settle in Chicago, where her husband works as an economic policy advisor.
Amber grew up in a theatrical family and her mother taught her the value of good storytelling from a young age. When she’s not telling stories, Amber can be found sewing, enjoying astronomy and sci-fi, eating her way through Chicago, and debating politics with her husband.
